.:Tutorial Tuesday - Modge (Mod) Podge Plate:.

My mom made this post awhile back, and I knew I wanted to make a plate like hers. I thought it would look smashing on an easel above my kitchen cupboards. My friend and I decided to give it a try. It was a fun project to make, and super easy!

(Side note funny story. My family and I all just recently discovered that Modge Podge is actually called Mod Podge. Duh! We still call it Modge Podge though, because we think it sounds better! Ha!)

What you need:

- plate (I used a glass plate - $4 at Wal-Mart)
- Modge Podge (Mod Podge....whatever)
- scrapbook paper
- embellishments (optional)

The first thing you'll want to do is make sure your plate is nice and clean! Mine had sticky stuff on the front from taking the sticker off.

We free-handed each of the layers of our trees. (I don't know why because I'm no artist!) You could easily find something online to print off and use if you wanted!

As I cut each layer, I laid it on my plate how I wanted it to look.

Then I modge podged the backs of the papers and laid them down on my plate. Be sure to get your bubbles out - if you look closely at mine, you'll see some bubbles. Eep!

Then I put a layer of modge podge over the top.

Once that was dry, I hot glued a rhinestone embellishment on top.

And finished!

There are so many other fun ways you could use this idea, so get creative and have some fun!

  10. You might want to look into getting a brayer. They're like little bitty rolling pins on a handle and they're for rolling out your crafts so they don't bubble (they might have other purposes too, but that's what I use mine for). After I mod podge the back I use the brayer before brushing the front. It makes all the different in my final products!
