.:Tutorial Tuesday - Monogrammed Shirts & Headbands:.

Go here to enter the Sew Obsessed giveaway.

Let's get started, shall we?

Here's what you need:

- shirts
- Silhouette (the lovely Ms. Lucy)
- Silhouette heat transfer
- iron

Start off by making your design in your Silhouette software. I started off with this flower.

Next, I put an initial in the middle of the flower. It's nice that both of my girls' names start with 'R' - I only had to do the work once!

Before you go to cut your design, make sure that you mirror your image!

Load your heat transfer directly into your Silhouette - no cutting mat required! Bonus! Make sure the clear side is down.

Peel off your negative space.

Place your design where you want it on your shirt. The front of these shirts has some embroidery on them, so I thought it would be fun to put the monogram in the back! The clear side is sticky, so it helps hold it in place.

Put a cloth over your design and iron it down.

Carefully peel up the clear layer. If your design is sticking, put it down, put the cloth over it, and iron it some more until it comes up easily.

Admire your lovely shirts,

But think to yourself, something is missing. Headbands!

For your headbands you need:

- knit fabric (or any kind of fabric really!)
- Silhouette heat transfer
- Silhouette
- iron
- elastic

Cut out your headband. I used a template found here.

Pin the two sides, right sides together.

Sew along each long edge, leaving the ends open. Turn it right side out.

Iron it.

Cut your design as above, using your Silhouette. Iron them down as above.

Take your ends, and fold in the raw edges and pin them down.

Stick some elastic in, and top stitch all the way around.

Now you've got some adorable, monogrammed lovelies for your little lovelies!

Think you might like a Silhouette? And perhaps some heat transfer to go along with it?

Well, you're in luck!

Silhouette's promotion starts today, May 17th, and runs through May 25th. That gives you plenty of time to grab one, although why you would wait, I have no idea! Lucy and I have had some good times together, and I anticipate we'll continue to have many more!
