I originally saw this idea on Pinterest, via the adorable Jamie from I Heart Nap Time. The original cloche was found here. I thought it was such a great idea to make a neat display that is personalized to your home.
And proceeded to make my own!
So the decorative cloche, that's not really a cloche. But close!
Here's what I used:
- wood numbers (you'll see a letter there, too, which I didn't end up using in my final product)
- wood blocks
- wood ball
- sequin elastic
- hot glue/gun
- glitter
- paint
- vinyl
- Silhouette (Yeah Lucy!)
- book (on hand)
- candle (on hand)
- cards (on hand)
I started off by painting my wood numbers and applying the glitter on them while they were still wet from the paint.
I used an acrylic spray to seal the glitter in a little bit.
Then I painted my wooden blocks. I wanted to use these as a domino and a dice. I also painted the ball.
I had Lucy cut out some vinyl dots to go on my domino and my dice. I hot glue the sequin elastic around the ball.
Why the number five? Our family of four is going to be a family of five come December, so I figured we'd just get started with that mentality now! My friend also made one, and she did five, but her reasoning was that they were married on 05.05.05. So you really can personalize this however you want!
I don't have a cloche, and I didn't want to spend money on one, so I used what I did have: a lovely glass jar. I also used a charger plate to set it on.
I pulled a couple of cards out of some decks we had (after reassuring my husband that I wasn't going to ruin them!), and used a book we had on the bookshelf.
I also used a black candle to help stack things in there right.
I love how it looks from all angles, and it's fun to rotate it every couple of days to get a new view!
What do you think?
