.:COOL WHIP & A Family Tradition:.

Growing up, we had a family tradition. Every Sunday evening, we would pop some popcorn, make some orange julius’, and watch America’s Funniest Home Videos. We never had a real meal Sunday evenings, because we were too busy filling our stomachs with the perfect combination of salty, buttery, and sweet.

I always loved this tradition because it just felt like the perfect way to end a weekend: together with your family, enjoying each other’s company before another busy week started.

Looking back, I can see that it was a wonderful thing my parents did, and quite sneakily I might add. Even as we got older and maybe weren’t always wanting to be with our family, this somehow always brought us together. It’s something I want to carry on with my kids. They are still super little, but I think they still appreciate and value the time when we are all home together. Our weeks get filled quickly with daddy’s work, pre-school, dance class, play dates, and other responsibilities, so to have some time set aside each week where it is just us is important!

This week I decided to put a spin on a traditional classic when I made our orange julius’ – we added COOL WHIP Whipped Topping. I knew that COOL WHIP would be the perfect addition to our dessert, and just make it creamy and delicious.

This recipe is not very involved, so it’s definitely something that you can make just about any day out of the week! I enjoyed the addition of the COOL WHIP because it made it seem just a bit more special than usual for us. Who doesn’t want a touch of something special in the midst of everyday life?

ORANGE JULIUS

- 1 can frozen concentrated orange juice
- 1/3 c sugar
- 1 t vanilla
- 1 c milk
- 1 small container COOL WHIP
- ice

Put the sugar, vanilla, and milk in the blender.

Add 1/2 of the can of orange juice. (And save the other half for another nite!)

I added in about 1/3-1/2 of the container of COOL WHIP. You can add the COOL WHIP to your liking.

Blend all ingredients together with ice.

Pour into cups (we like ours in mugs) and serve with spoons. You could even add a dollop of COOL WHIP on top if you like!

Eat, enjoy, and try not to get a brain freeze!

Doesn’t that look tasty? And like I said, not too difficult to make, so it’s something you can enjoy any time you like. It’s a great treat in the warmer, upcoming summer months! My husband and kids thought this was a great addition to the usual recipe. I'm pretty sure it's going to be a constant now!

So next time you’re at the store, be sure to grab some COOL WHIP and make dessert a little more special!
