.:Review - River Crossing Dental:.

** Disclaimer: My daughter was provided with some dental services, but we do really love this office!

We’ve all been to the dentist, right? I surely hope so! We recently took our four year old for the first time, and it turns out that we probably should have taken her in sooner. The verdict: two cavities. Which equates to more time at the dentist. Reece is pretty outgoing, and comfortable in most situations, but going to the dentist is still something newer and kind of scary for a little kid, right? We knew it was super important to have her go somewhere that she would be treated well and made to feel comfortable.

That place is River Crossing Dental.

River Crossing Family Dental is a local dental office located in Riverton, UT. Let’s just start with the office alone, shall we? The office is newer, and in a great location. It’s got easy access off a local highway, and it is located in a rapidly growing area. The office boasts a play area for young children, which we all know is totally valuable!

The office is always clean, and the staff is super friendly and welcoming. I haven’t been in there once where I wasn’t made to feel as though I was valued as a patient.

The office has the newest and latest equipment, which assures you that you are getting the best service possible for your teeth and mouth. River Crossing Dental offers same day crowns, teeth whitening, and of course, your regular dental service among other things.

Another service River Crossing Dental offers is pediatric dentistry, which is one reason we have found ourselves there lately. We took Reece in to get her two crowns filled, and to be honest, she wasn’t even nervous going in. River Crossing Dental has television above the chairs, with Netflix and X-Box services for children and adults! (Seriously, sometimes I’m a little sad when my cleanings are over because then my uninterrupted t.v. time is over). Plus, the chairs have massage and heat capabilities. Yeah. Going to the dentist doesn’t sound so bad now, does it?

Dr. John Peterson is the dentist at River Crossing Family Dental, and he was absolutely wonderful with Reece. He is a father of three (soon to be four!), so he obviously knows how to talk to children. He helped talk Reece through what to expect, and what was going to be happening through the procedure. Reece got a turn using the gas to help her relax before the treatment started.

Once Dr. Peterson got in there, he discovered that Reece would actually need a crown since the cavity was so bad. (I promise we brush her teeth twice a day, and since this happening, our kids get flossed daily, too!) This definitely was not what was expected for anyone, but Dr. Peterson and his staff were quick to adapt and to help Reece feel comfortable. Now, she was getting a crown, and after awhile, she wasn’t really into her dental experience anymore. What kid would be? But Dr. Peterson and his staff handled her so well, and were able to get her to get through the treatment. And ever since, she’s been showing off her shiny, new tooth to anyone who will take a peek!

We really appreciated how calm, careful, and understanding Dr. Peterson was with Reece. It was a new, and slightly scary experience for her, but she came away from it fine and willing to go back for her second cavity. That says a lot, don’t you think?

Personally, I go to River Crossing Dental myself, and have always been impressed with the quality of service and care given. I know that when I go, my interests are being taken into consideration, and it has been a good experience every time. Dr. Peterson and his staff are careful to listen to any questions or concerns that you may have, and provide you with the best advice and answers.

Right now, Dr. Peterson and his staff at River Crossing Family Dental are offering a back to school special! For the month of August, children can come in (new patient!) and receive their first exam and cleaning for just $29! That is a great deal! Now would be a great time to get in there and polish up your children’s teeth so they look their best when going back to school.

If you decide to try out Dr. Peterson and River Crossing Family Dental, you can mention that you heard about them here on Sumo’s Sweet Stuff, and receive a free in-office whitening with your first exam.

So if you're local, and you're in the market for a new dentist, I urge you to go to River Crossing Family Dental!

  2. Dr. Peterson came in on a Saturday to fix my daughter's two broken front teeth (basketball injury). He and his assistant spent 5 hours, including a drive to Sandy to get a supply they were missing on a weekend. The equipment is modern (massage chair and streaming Netflix while they're working on you). The staff is great. And he's a perfectionist, which is a great thing in a person working on your mouth. Highly recommended!
