.:Bond Top Pattern Tour:.

Another day, another great pattern to share with you all! Seriously, I know so many talented sewing bloggers and love sharing them with you. Today, I’m on tour for the Bond Top, the new sewing pattern out from Beatnik Kids.

Beatnik Kids is actually my lovely contributor, Stacey from Boy, Oh Boy, Oh Boy Crafts! Talk about multi-talented, right?

So, let’s talk about this pattern: the Bond Top. First of all, it’s a unisex pattern, which means super awesome because it can be used for girls and boys alike! Any pattern that offers that is super valuable in my book! The pattern calls for a mix of knit and woven fabrics, and I’m totally loving the contrast. Again – pattern mixing!

I loved being able to add the buttons. I thought it was fun to add a subtle pop of color where I had chosen a more neutral print. Buttons are just fun details that make the perfect finishing touches to a garment, and besides that, I really enjoy making buttonholes. Seriously, I do.

The sleeve length is great. I love 3/4 length sleeves on just about anything, and this is no exception. They are a loose fitting sleeve, so still comfortable for your kids to be playing in. The body of the top is a great length as well. I don’t like when my girls are constantly tugging at shirts to stay down, and this provides ample coverage for the playing that we like to do!

The pattern actually has a collar that you add on, but I decided to leave it off. My girls don’t have a lot of experience with polos or button up shirts, so I wasn’t sure if she would like that or not. I had thought to maybe add a ruffle around the neckline, but decided that I liked the modern shape of the top, so I just hemmed around the neckline. I think it’s a pretty cute tunic style shirt!

This is a great pattern, and whether you’ve got boys, girls, or both – you will make good use of it!

Right now, Stacey is offering $2 off your purchase of the Bond Top by using the code BONDTOP.

Be sure to check out all of the other stops on the tour to see some fun takes on this fantastic pattern!

  2. I love the changes you made to the pattern. Cute!
